"Woodstock"

This year's photo celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Woodstock music festival. The background is from an iconic photo shot by LIFE photographer Burk Uzzle, which appeared on both the 1970 "Woodstock" album cover and the subsequent movie poster.

We got Jen's cool blouse from eBay, as well as my sunglasses and mustache, and Samuel's peace-sign t-shirt. The lovely pink and purple afghan, I'm proud to say, was already ours.

We needed something for Samuel and Ethan to do in the photo, so we figured Sam could flash a peace sign, and I wanted Ethan to hold up a sign that said "Drop acid, not bombs."

Jennifer said some people might find it inappropriate. I said, "That's why it's funny."

Alas, marriage is a compromise.

In any event, we support peace, love, and joy, and we wish you plenty of it.

Oh, and you want to see something kinda cool?
